The Hinterland Times is an independant magazine dedicated to reflecting those who live, work and run business in our region. When editor, Michael Berry, contacted us regarding his website, the needs were clear. The Hinterland Times website was to be, in short, the online version of the magazine. It was too provide everything the printed version has to offer, with the additional advertisement opportunities that are made available to those accessing the Internet.

For a Magazine, the opportunities that a professional website deliver can quickly become the business’ most prominent economic aspect. It means that, via the ever-expanding web, advertisements can have their products and/or services only a short click away from each and every viewer. With millions of potential visitors, online advertising seems only a logical necessity for every business.

The rich imagery, sleek and user-friendly layout of the website offers everything the printed magazine has to extend, compiled with the advantages of the internet and its broad market opportunities. This ensures that the readers still have access to the broad array of monthly stories, as well as everything that the online avenue has to offer.

For such a detailed site that is constantly being updated, the back-end needed to be strong and easy to used. Stories and images had to be able to be uploaded with ease and the absence of complications. Therefore making stragihtforward graphic insertion on many vital features of the Times’ back-end was very important.

To be easily navigated by viewers, to provide a search facility, to be completely user-friendly and to be neatly categorised were each aspects which were to be incorporated into the site. And to have each of these aspects and facilities included in the website without it becoming cluttered and confusing was something we were able to achieve within the final product.
