Fig Control – working with Versions
Fig Control – working with Versions from Fig Creative on Vimeo.
This is an exciting little feature I’m going to show you today because I think a lot of people are always a little hesitant to try new things, there or ways worried about making a mistake. Well, one of the features with in the fig control system is called “versions”. So, let’s say you’ve been in and you’ve been making a lot of edits, and you’ve left edit mode, you’ve decided that you want to publish it, but then when you do [publish it] and you look at it on the website you realise, “oh no, that’s not really what I want at all.” That’s no problem. All you have to do is go back into “edit” and you’ll see along the top there’s a button called “versions”. When that opens up, you’ll see that when you (or anybody else) have made a change and published it, it has created “versions” and you can actually roll back to any of the previos edits easily. All you have to do is highlight the version you wish to revert to, make it the “approved” version and that will become the version that will be shown to the public. So it’s really a terrific safe-guard that you don’t ever have to worry about making a mistake. It gives you the freedom to be a little creative and to try new things.
Now, as you can see, this one that is highlighted and that’s the one that the public can see but if you go back to edit mode this is the one that you’d be working with because it is the latest. Now, if that’s not the one you wanted at all, you just tick that and hit “remove” and it will get rid of it all together. But one of the other things you can do is, if you’re not sure of the changes that have been made, you can tick two boxes, click “compare” and it will show you the differences between those two versions. And, you’ll see the RED and the GREEN indicate the changes made.
