Hinterland Times

Clients Case Studies on March 17th, 2010 No Comments

The Hinterland Times is an independant magazine dedicated to reflecting those who live, work and run business in our region. When editor, Michael Berry, contacted us regarding his website, the needs were clear. The Hinterland Times website was to be, in short, the online version of the magazine. It was too provide everything the printed version has to offer, with the additional advertisement opportunities that are made available to those accessing the Internet.

For a Magazine, the opportunities that a professional website deliver can quickly become the business’ most prominent economic aspect. It means that, via the ever-expanding web, advertisements can have their products and/or services only a short click away from each and every viewer. With millions of potential visitors, online advertising seems only a logical necessity for every business.

The rich imagery, sleek and user-friendly layout of the website offers everything the printed magazine has to extend, compiled with the advantages of the internet and its broad market opportunities. This ensures that the readers still have access to the broad array of monthly stories, as well as everything that the online avenue has to offer.

For such a detailed site that is constantly being updated, the back-end needed to be strong and easy to used. Stories and images had to be able to be uploaded with ease and the absence of complications. Therefore making stragihtforward graphic insertion on many vital features of the Times’ back-end was very important.

To be easily navigated by viewers, to provide a search facility, to be completely user-friendly and to be neatly categorised were each aspects which were to be incorporated into the site. And to have each of these aspects and facilities included in the website without it becoming cluttered and confusing was something we were able to achieve within the final product.

Google Analytics integration

CRM, Knowledge base on February 13th, 2010 No Comments

What “Google Analytics” integration does is to track your links, and add “Google Analytics” specific code to the links so you don’t need to add those tracking code manually.

“Google Analytics” itself must already be integrated on your website in order for the link to be tracked by Google (http://www.google.com/analytics/).

So for example you got a newsletter that have a link to your website listed here:

How can I import data for a field with multiple checkbox values?

CRM, Knowledge base on February 13th, 2010 No Comments

If you’ve created a custom field that uses multiple checkbox values, you may find that you are unsure of what format you need to import data for this field to be properly recognized by your Email Marketer. When you have a checkbox field, use commas as separators between all true (checked) values. As an example, for a checkbox field called Test with the unique values A, B, and C, you would want to use an import file similar to the following:

Email Address, Name, Test,
“bob@example.com”,”Bob”,”A,C”,
“jim@example.com”,”Jim”,”B”,
“jane@example.com”,”Jane”,”A,B,C”

Importing contact lists

CRM, Knowledge base on February 13th, 2010 No Comments

You can import  from MYOB, an Excel file , Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook and others.

Things to remember.

  • You will need to create the custom fields in Fig Connect BEFORE you can import
  • Fig Connect will not load duplicate email addresses.
  • If you have created a custom field in Fig Connect as a mandatory field, then make sure your importing file has data in that field for all contacts.
  • Each contact MUST have an email address. If one does not exist for them, then you will need to create a dummy data entry eg name1@mysite.com
  • Your importing data fields will need to “Map” across to your custom fields. This will be automatic if the header on your importing file matches the custom field titles
  • Your importing file must be a csv (comma separated value) file.

Does the Email Marketer send one email at a time, or all the emails at once?

CRM, Knowledge base on February 13th, 2010 No Comments

The Email Marketer sends one email at a time. Sending multiple emails at one time, or using the CC / BCC fields cause emails to be marked as spam by email clients and should be avoided.
