What Is AdWords?

AdWords is Google’s main advertising product. It’s also Google’s biggest source of revenue. It could also be a big source of revenue for you, too.

AdWords allows for a number of types of advertising, including cost-per-click (CPC – only pay when someone clicks your ad), cost-per-thousand-impressions (CPM – pay when someone sees your ad), site targeted advertising (have your ads show on websites you select), and search ads (text ads) or display ads (ads that are images).

Note: organic search results, which are all about SEO, are different to AdWords ads. Read this post on SEO, and note the picture, below:

How Does It Work?

AdWords can help businesses reach new customers who are looking for your products and services. In turn, AdWords helps grow your business. One of the greatest features of AdWords is how it lets you target your ads to relevant audiences, regions, media devices, websites and search engines. This allows for greater control over targeting and budget than in traditional, offline advertising. AdWords also features a number of analytical tools which help with interpreting results and planning informed strategies for the future.

AdWords Benefits

  • It lets you reach new customers

You can reach potential customers your current advertising campaigns aren’t reaching, therefore giving your business further opportunity to grow.

  • Choose who sees your ads, and where

You can choose what websites you want your ads to appear (given that they’re in Google’s Display Network, but lets not complicate this), choose who will see your ads, when, and choose what locations your ads will be seen in. Want to be seen in the UK? You’ve got it. Only in Queensland? Sure. Or, no more than 15km away from your business premises? This can also be done.

  • Control your advertising budget

There’s no minimum spend with AdWords. You can set a budget you’re comfortable with, and you can stop or pause your campaigns at any time. Depending on your business objectives, you can pay only when someone clicks on your ad, or when someone sees your ad.

The cost of AdWords campaigns is usually less than traditional advertising mostly because of the control that can be executed: control over budget spend and allocation and audiences means a greater likelihood of relevance, and, therefore, conversion.

  • Track changes and results

Every action made can be tracked, which is great for accountability. You can see what ads have attracted the most clicks, how much these clicks have cost, and such data can inform future AdWords strategy. Also, changes can be made at any time and come into effect instantly.

  • You don’t have to spend the most to benefit the most

Many people believe that the greater the spend, the greater the results. This is not necessarily true. There are a number of strategies that can be taken that improve Quality Scores, which improve the position – or, Ad Rank – your ad appears.

How We Maximise Your Campaign

Fig Creative specialises in developing, implementing and managing AdWords campaigns. With Google AdWords Certified staff, Fig Creative can maximise the potential of your AdWords campaigns.

First, we’ll liaise with you to determine what kind of results you’re after. More sales? Exposure? Recognition? We can help you select the campaign that best meets these goals. We’ll also talk to you about other specifics, such as where you want your ad to be seen, how much you want to spend, and so on.

After, we’ll research aspects of your products and services to gather appropriate keywords (keywords are the words typed into a search engine) that will make your ad appear. Then, we’ll write creative, engaging copy for your ads and website landing pages so that you have a strong ad rank, therefore increasing your opportunities of reaching potential customers and converting them to actual customers.

Then, we’ll continue to optimise your account by monitoring changes and trends. We then respond strategically to these with the aim of continuously improving outcomes, meeting your objectives and maximising your budget.
